As reported by FOX News, a growing number of Americans are hopping a flight in order to save anywhere from a few thousand – to tens of thousands – of dollars on dental care.
Indeed, the organization Patients Without Borders pegs the number of US dental tourists at around 400,000 per year. And when dental tourists from other countries are added to the mix – such as those from the UK, Australia, Canada and many parts of Western Europe – the number runs well in the millions. In fact, it may come as a surprise to learn that in terms of the number of patients served and treatments performed, dental tourism is actually more popular than medical tourism!
And speaking of treatments: the list of sought after dental solutions is long, and include everything from root canals, to smile makeovers, to gum recontouring and of course, dental implants. This is an artificial tooth root that is placed in the jaw in order to hold a replacement bridge or tooth. It’s a safe and effective option for many people who’ve lost a tooth (or multiple teeth) due to injury, accident, periodontal disease, or other cause.
In the U.S. the cost for a single dental implant can be around $5,000. However, those who head abroad stand to save at least several thousands of dollars – and much more if they need multiple implants (which typically cannot be done on the same trip, but this is hardly an obstacle since the savings per tooth are so massive).
And so, where are your neighbours, colleagues, and probably members of your extended family heading? Below are some of the best places to get dental implants abroad:
Prices will vary somewhat depending on specific areas, times of year, and the needs of individual patients. However, going abroad can save you anywhere from 30% to 90% on dental implants. Also keep in mind that this is not an exhaustive list of available destinations that cater to dental tourists.
